Dear friends of Kurdish Iraq, dear compatriots of Iraqi Kurdistan,
When I travelled to Sulaimaniyah in April 2015, the visit of Danielle Mitterrand school was both one of the most exciting moments and friendliest of this stay. The dynamism of the teaching staff, the evident joy of living of the children attending this school and the overall impression of harmony that prevails reveal an establishment where life is good.
Carrying our language and our culture at Kurdistan region of Iraq through teaching is a beautiful mission accomplished by the association Dialog in Sulaimaniyah. The Embassy of France in Iraq is working to support all our Kurdish friends who have chosen our country for the education of their young children. This initiative responds to a genuine desire from France I truly felt during this emotional journey. I also want to remember that the story of Danielle Mitterrand school Sulaimaniyah tells about a reconstruction. The result of the work done in recent years is remarkable. The development projects of this school allow us to do better and go further. I wish to express the full support of the diplomatic mission that I head to the teaching staff and parents, and send every encouragement to the children who will become the bearers of our culture and the friendship that binds us.
Best regards to all.
Marc BARETY, Ambassador of France in Iraq
